Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

 

1 pkg. (3 oz.) strawberry Jello

1 pkg. (10 oz.) sliced frozen sweetened strawberries (thawed)

1 tbsp. sugar

Pinch salt

1/2 of a 10" baked angel food cake, torn into pieces

1 cup whipping cream whipped

 

Fresh strawberry halves (optional)

 

Directions

Dissolve Jello in 1-1/4 cups boiling water. Stir in thawed berries, sugar and salt. Cool until it begins to thicken.

Fold in the whipped cream.  Cover the bottom of 9 inch square dish, or pan with half the torn cake; pour over half the strawberry-whipped cream mixture; repeat layer of cake and remaining strawberry cream mixture.

Refrigerate 4 to 5 hours before serving. Can garnish with fresh strawberry halves, if desired.
