Tender Flaky Biscuits
2 cups sifted flour
4 to 6 Tablespoons shortening (like Crisco)
2/3 to ¾ cup milk
¾ teaspoon salt
2 ½ teaspoon baking powder
Measure sifted flour, add salt and baking powder and sift again. Cut in shortening, add milk. Stir with fork until soft dough is formed. Turn out on lightly floured board. Roll dough until about ½ inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter or glass. Bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot (450 degree) oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 14 biscuits.
