2 ½ cups scalded milk, cooled

1 cake yeast or 2 ¼ teaspoons instant granulated yeast

½ cup sugar

1/3 cup butter

½ cup raisins

1 egg

1 teaspoon salt

½ cup chopped almonds

To beaten egg, add butter and sugar.  Beat until light.  Then add milk into which yeast has dissolved.  Add 2 cups flour to make a thin batter. 

Beat until smooth, cover and let rise about 1 hour.  Then add raisins, almonds and enough flour to make a soft dough. 

Knead well and let rise until double in size  1- 1 ½ hours.  Then divide into 6 parts and make into rolls that look like sticks, 3 larger and 3 small ones. 

Braid the larger ones and place at bottom of greased loaf pan.  Braid the 3 smaller ones and place on top of first braid.  Let rise ½ hour, then brush with egg and bake at 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
