Bacon Cheddar Slow Cooker Bread
3 C all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 T chives, finely chopped
1 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 C bacon crumbles
1 1/2 C buttermilk
1 egg
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Then add the chives, shredded cheddar, and bacon crumbles. In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon into a dough. Form the dough into a roundish loaf, then cut an 'X' with a serrated knife about one-inch deep into the loaf. Line the slow cooker with parchment paper and lower the loaf onto the parchment. Drape paper towels over the top of the crock, cover, and cook on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
