Applesauce Muffins

1 1/2 C sugar
1/2 C margarine or butter, softened
2 eggs
2 C flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 C applesauce

In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Mix until just combined. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Makes about 18 muffins.
