Easy Frozen Pickles

16 C cucumbers, thinly sliced
1 C onions, sliced
3 T salt

Syrup:
2 C vinegar
4 C sugar (may you use artificial sweetener)
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp powdered alum
1 tsp whole mustard seed

Combine first three ingredients and set aside for three hours.  Rinse and drain well.  Mix together syrup ingredients set aside for three hours, stirring often to dissolve sugar.  Combine with cucumbers.  Refrigerate several days, then freeze.  These keep well in refrigerator for several weeks.  These pickles come out of the freezer very crispy.
