Pizza Dough
1 1/4 C warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 T yeast
2 T oil
1 tsp salt
3 to 4 C flour
Top with your choice of toppings:
Meat, such as browned ground beef, sausage, pepperoni
Vegetables: onions, green peppers, olives, tomatoes
Cheese: Mozzarella, Cheddar, or another of your choice
Put very warm water in a bowl and stir in sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let stand for ten minutes. Put oil, salt, and three cups flour in a larger bowl and pour yeast mixture in. Stir together and then using your hands knead, adding as much of the remaining flour as needed to get a smooth soft dough. Roll out dough and place in greased pans. Allow to rise until doubled. Roll out dough on floured board or you can just press it out, stretching it to fit the pan. You can get two medium sized pizzas from this amount of dough, so I often spread it on another pizza pan and freeze it for another day. Once the dough has risen (about 1/2 hour) spread with one cup of pizza sauce or any tomato sauce you have. Tip: After greasing pans you can sprinkle with corn meal for a crispier crust. Bake pizzas in a 425-degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Let rest for five minutes before cutting.
