Old Settlers Wild Plum Pudding

Mix together:

1 cup sugar

1 egg

½ cup butter or lard or 1 stick margarine

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon allspice

1 cup flour

In a small bowl, put in 5 Tablespoons sour milk or buttermilk.  Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda to the milk.  Add milk to the above mixture.

Add 1 cup pitted wild plums and nuts (optional)

Put in 9” x 13” pan.  Bake 350 degrees till done.

Hard Sauce:

1 cup sugar

1 Tablespoon flour

¼ cup butter

Pour into 2 cups boiling water.  Add 1 teaspoon flavoring (either vanilla or rum)

Spread onto cake.
