Very Cherry Coffee Cake

1 C (2 sticks) butter
1 1/2 C sugar
3 eggs
1/4 C milk
3 C all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
21-oz can cherry pie filling, 2 cans is better!

Topping:
1/4 C all-purpose flour
1/4 C sugar
2 tsp butter
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, cream one cup of butter and 1-1/2 cups sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Add three cups flour, the baking powder, and vanilla; mix well. Spread half the batter into prepared pan; spread cherry pie filling evenly over batter and, using a wet knife, cover evenly with remaining batter. In a small bowl, using a fork, mix together topping ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Bake 50 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire cooling rack. Cut and serve.
