Mom's Oatmeal Cake

1 ¼ cup boiling water
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 stick margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ cups flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Pour boiling water over margarine and oatmeal.  Cover and let stand 20 minutes.  Add sugars, eggs, flour, salt, nut meg, cinnamon and baking soda.  Mix well.  Bake in greased (sprayed) 9 X 13” pan.  Bake 350 degree oven, 30  minutes.  Cool.

Frosting: 
¼ cup butter melted
½ cup brown sugar
3 Tablespoons milk
1/3 cup chopped nuts
¾ cup coconut

Combine everything, spread over cake.  Broil in oven till frosting is bubbly.
