Illinois Lemon Pie

1 large or, 2 small lemons cut in small chunks, seeds removed, and cut off ends.(DO NOT PEEL)!
1&1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/2 cup (1 stick) soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Put all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Whirl until mixture is smooth and no lumps remain. Batter will be thick and foamy. Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.  Let cool, serve with a dollop of whipped topping.
