No-Mess Microwave Caramel Corn

3 1 /2 qts of microwave popcorn
1 /2 C butter
1 /2 tsp salt
1 C brown sugar
1 /4 C corn syrup
1 /2 tsp baking soda

Pop popcorn and seal in a paper-bag.  On medium heat boil the butter, salt, sugar, and syrup.  Once the mixture reaches a boil, let it boil, while stirring, for a couple of minutes.  Be sure to keep stirring so the mixture doesn't scorch.  Pour immediately onto the popcorn in the paper bag.  Roll the top of the bag down and shake vigorously.  Microwave on high for one minute, 15 seconds.  Shake bag again and return to microwave for another 75 seconds.  Shake bag again and return to microwave for one minute.  Pour popcorn into metal or glass bowl to cool.
