Jello Cookies

¼ cup butter

½ cup vegetable shortening

½ cup sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ½ cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

 Your choice of 3oz. package of jello

Cream butter, shortening, sugar and jello.  Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until well mixed.  Sift flour, salt and baking powder.  Slowly add the dry mixture and mix well.  The dough should be soft but not sticky.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees and roll dough into balls.  Then roll balls in sugar in a bowl.  Completely covering the exterior of the dough balls.  Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.  Sprinkle tops with sugar and bake.  (I flatten mine with a fork or bottom of a glass as they didn’t flatten for me.)
